Everybody has a favourite colour. You may not know this, but your favourite colour can say a lot about who you are. Psychologists – and marketing researchers – have long known that the colours you prefer say something about you, as an individual. Your favourite colour is symbolic of your emotional state, psychological traits, and what makes you tick. Read on to find out what your favourite colour says about you.
White
White symbolises purity, innocence and youth. If you’re older and white is your favourite colour, you could be young at heart – or have very high ideals. White may also be symbolic of a desire to simplify your life.
Red
This is the colour of health, strength and vitality. People who love red tend to be outgoing and impulsive. People who prefer red can be abrupt, as well as quick to form opinions. They tend to be spontaneous and optimistic, but can lack self-awareness.
Pink
Pink expresses the gentler side of red. It symbolises love and affection. Pink people want protection and nurturing and tend to be gentle and charming. If you want your home to feel warm and filled with love, use pink as an accent colour – a pink sofa in an otherwise neutral room, for example, will make a big statement.
Orange
The colour of luxury, orange, appeals to flamboyant, fun-living people who are highly social. They can be a bit dramatic, but tend to be popular because of their good nature. Orange means strength, youth, curiosity and fearlessness.
Green
Green is the colour of harmony. It symbolises peace, hope and renewal. Those who favour green tend to be sincere, frank and socially aware. They can be too modest and self-effacing in trying to avoid conflict and may find themselves being taken advantage of.
Yellow
Yellow is symbolic of happiness, imagination and wisdom. Those wanting adventure and novelty tend to prefer this colour, and it’s a favourite of those with good business sense and a good sense of humour. Yellows tend to be clear thinkers who value their intellectual prowess, but they may at times shun responsibility.
