As the year winds down, and families from different corners of the world get together to celebrate each others’ presence, the stresses of our lives seems to fade away, replaced with joy and pleasure. And this, too, should be reflected in what you read and what you do. So, after polling the office, we’ve come up with a list that answers the timeless question on what Christmas is about.
Christmas is about family
Yep, above all else, regardless of religious belief systems (or lack thereof) and whatever else you may have happening in your life at any given time, Christmas is – and has always been – about family. Christmas is about reminding ourselves what matters most, and reminding those who matter most to us that they matter. Remember this if you find yourself getting worked up with your children, parents or siblings over the coming weeks. Is it really worth kicking up a fuss?
Christmas is about eating!
A very close second to Christmas being about family is the universally recognized fact that Christmas is about eating. If you’re hosting the festivities this season, you’ve no doubt gone over menus and grocery lists time and time again to make sure nothing is left out. If, however, you’re not entrusted with hosting responsibilities, whoever is hosing will greatly appreciate if you show up with a casserole filled with food if you won’t be assisting with the preparation there.
Christmas is about gifts!
For many people, corporations looking to make money have commercialised this time of year. While this is true, conformity to the commercialisation of the festive season should not be your goal when you buy gifts for loved ones. This is simply a symbolic way of showing people that they are special to us. And, for those of you who struggle to come up with gift ideas fear not. We’ve got you covered with this gift guide for little princesses in case you have one prancing about in your home this Christmas.
Always remember what Christmas is about – it’s about family. All the little things we do like purchase gifts and cook hearty, belly-bursting meals, is in the interest of showing those who mean the most to us that they do, in fact, mean the most to us.
