The manner in which a freezer, refrigerator or icemaker is transported definitely makes a difference to the life of the appliance and its working. If the appliance is moved on its side or back, it must stand upright for at least 24 hours before being restarted. In case the unit is transported upright, then it can be restarted immediately. This is because the lubricating oil for the refrigeration compressor can flow out of the crankcase when the unit is not upright and running the unit without oil will ruin the compressor. Moving upright freezer, which is bulky can be awkward and that too when you are trying to do it in an upright position. To ensure that that your freezer arrives safely at its destination and in the same working condition as when it left its original destination, first remove all glass shelves from the freezer.
Then unplug it and slide the metal plate of the appliance dolly under the freezer from the side. Wrap the straps around the freezer and tighten them firmly to avoid the door opening. Smaller freezers can be moved without the dolly, though it is still recommended to use one anyway. Tip the dolly and freezer carefully to transport and load onto the truck which will transport your freezer. While moving upright freezer, place it upright in the truck and in case it needs to be placed on its side, the hinges should be at the top to keep the door from opening during transport. Then you will have to wait for 24 hours after transport before plugging it in again. When using a large moving truck, the moving upright freezer can be placed securely in the back of the truck. Also enlist help from a neighbour or friend for moving the freezer. Some popular models of freezers are Beko TZDA504F, Beko TZDA627F, Coolzone CZ51029, Beko ZA630, Hotpoint FZA34P, Hoover HFZE5485B, Hotpoint FZS175, Samsung RZ80EDRS, Samsung RZ80EDMH, Beko TZDA629F, Samsung RZ80EBSW, the AFB637 Whirlpool freezer and the Liebherr GX821.
