There are many places in the UK that are great to visit around Halloween. Explore haunted houses, creepy castles, inns filled with patrons that never left and battlefields filled with wounded soldiers for a truly bone-chilling experience. If you’re looking to go ghost hunting, the UK is one of the best places to be.
England
Many ghosts are said to roam the streets of Bath, said to the be the most haunted town in England. If you are near the assembly rooms you may spot the famous man in the black hat or travel to Freezing Hill and The Park hotel to spot ghosts of the Lansdown battle. If you stumble upon a horse-drawn cart you are probably at The Royal Crescent. If it’s romance you’re after visit the Theatre Royal to spot a suicidal woman and her lover who died at the hands of her husband. You could also take a haunted bar tour which stops at Crystal Palace Tavern and Popjoy’s restaurant to spot some long-gone patrons.
Scotland
It is said in Edinburgh that you can spot a little girl who was murdered in the city’s underground passages. If you visit the highlands you may come across a beautiful woman who is neither human nor ghost but instead is said to be entrapped in the faerie realm, this is the famous Green Lady. She travels from home to home and is generally associated with water and may even appear to you dripping wet.
Wales and Ireland
As Wales has a vast mining history there are many stories of ghosts of miners, who died tragic deaths, while Ireland is home to many a ghostly, old castle.
Even if you don’t believe in ghosts the UK relics and ruins are steeped in fascinating history and can look very spooky at night. Don’t forget your torch!
