Rumours abound that H&M’s latest collaboration will be with French fashion house Lanvin. While neither of them would confirm or deny the reports, the clothing chain released a very ambiguous video that hinted at who’d join H&M in producing their newest range. Now, the news is out: WWD has confirmed that Lanvin and H&M are working together to produce a collection that’s sure to amaze followers of fashion.

Guess again

With no official word from either Lanvin or H&M, many have had their own ideas about who H&M’s collaborator might be. One idea was that Bottega Venetta’s Thomas Maier might be in line for the job, while others suggested that it might be Carolina Herrera, or Vivienne Westwood. It was the teaser videos that seem to have got everyone barking up the wrong tree – although, of course, WWD could have their facts wrong too.

Lost in translation?

Thoughts of Lanvin working in partnership with H&M has got many critics and commentators thinking about how the Lanvin look might translate to H&M’s high street production. The Lanvin look is all about luxury, so there have been some suggestions that affordable fabrics might present something of a challenge, but we’re sure that it’s one that Lanvin’s ready to step up to. If they can produce the Lanvin look for less, they’re sure to have plenty of eager buyers.

Winning team

H&M has a history of teaming up with top designers – among them are Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons, Sonia Rykiel, Jimmy Choo, and Viktor and Rolf. The official announcement about the latest H&M collaboration will be released on 9 September, and it’s going to be exciting to see what this dream team has come up with. Until then, design fans will just have to keep dreaming and speculating.
