Jean Paul Gaultier’s recent couture show in Paris had an added surprise for its audience when Dita Von Teese stepped onto the catwalk in her trademark dramatic make-up and a skimpy Gaultier outfit. Even in a dramatic show featuring smoking and violin-playing models, the star managed to stand out and make a significant impression on everyone watching. Meanwhile, Von Teese also lent her image to another famous brand.

Barely there

The burlesque star is no stranger to tiny, tight-fitting outfits, so she was a good choice for Gaultier’s little black… corset. She initially appeared in a slender black dress, but stripped it off to show the more risque creation concealed underneath. She reappeared at the end of the Jean Paul Gaultier clothing show with the designer himself, as she accompanied him down the runway.

The look for the Gaultier show was unashamedly glamorous and decadent, with fur-trimmed coats, turbans, and models smoking cigarettes in long cigarette holders. Black was the colour that dominated the Jean Paul Gaultier clothing show, and the luxe look was completed by the presence of Catherine Deneuve in the front row.

Dita, on a jet plane

Dita von Teese seems to have had a busy time lately. She was in Las Vegas recently with Richard Branson to unveil an image of herself on the side of a Virgin Atlantic plane that flies between Las Vegas and London. The event celebrates the tenth anniversary of the launch of that particular route, and has Von Teese depicted as the airline’s flying lady, complete with British flag. From a fashion show runway to the one at the airport, it seems Von Teese’s career is reaching new heights.
