If your office is in need of some refreshing but you don’t want to give it a full revamp, don’t despair – some minor changes can make the office environment more pleasant and relaxing. A large part of how much you enjoy your office relates to personalising the space, so choose touches that make you feel like you’re in an area that’s uniquely yours.
Duly noted
Add a noticeboard – one made of cork and covered in attractive fabric works well – to remind you of life outside the office. You can stick up pictures, favourite quotes, invitations to events you’re looking forward to, or anything that makes you feel happy and inspired.
Just add water
Water has a relaxing effect, and so do pets. Combine the two and what do you get? A fish in a bowl on your desk, of course. Choose a fish that doesn’t require too much care and choose a home for it in the form of a pretty bowl or vase.
Don’t stop the music

Whether you enjoy music that’s fast-paced to keep you moving during the day or slow to keep you relaxed no matter what comes your way, get a good set of headphones and enjoy the soundtrack to your office life. Keep it upbeat, though, and don’t let it stop you from talking to your co-workers entirely.
Plant yourself
If you enjoy taking care of things, plants will make you feel more at home in your office, and even if you don’t, it’s healthy to have them nearby. If you’re useless when it comes to keeping greenery alive, ask your nursery for the hardiest variety they have.
Share alike
How you get along with your co-workers will have an important influence on how you feel at work, so do your best to get along – try sharing lunches once a week to get to know them better. You should soon be feeling happier and more productive in the office.
