While many celebrities try unhealthy, drastic diets to lose large amounts of weight in a short amount of time, Katy Perry seems to have a pretty healthy approach. The Hot and Cold singer recently revealed that healthy food (in the form of mushrooms) and regular exercise (in the form of skipping) keep her in great shape. It’s healthy, yes, but it’s also a little bizarre. Could it work for you?

She tried the diet – and she liked it

Katy Perry says that mushrooms are one of her favourite foods, which is a good thing when she likes to eat a lot of them. She also revealed that she loves to indulge in greasy takeaway foods, but she has to limit her intake of those because she picks up weight very easily if she doesn’t watch what she eats.

Mushrooms are low in fat and high in helpful nutrients, so including them in your diet is a great idea. Obviously a diet that overdoes any one food can be harmful, but try some mushrooms in risottos, omelettes, or pasta. Katy Perry says that she loves truffles along with the more ordinary varieties of mushrooms, so follow her example and experiment with the different kinds of mushrooms available.

Skipping exercise

Katy’s also managed to find a form of exercise that she really enjoys: skipping. She’s reported that she loves her skipping rope and can keep jumping for thirty minutes without stopping. What can we learn from Katy’s health and fitness secrets? It’s simple – finding a healthy food and an exercise that you love, whatever those might be, will be a huge help to anyone trying to lose weight. Turning to something that you enjoy doing rather than forcing yourself into a regime you hate will be easier and far more effective.
