Summer is almost here and the best style to be seen in is not floral dresses or gladiator sandals but the wetsuit. Water sports are becoming a new trend that is attracting both old and young. With the new plans to turn a South Wales resort into an extreme sports destination, the rush to get wetsuits is more urgent than ever. But in order to make a good buy one needs to know what type of wetsuits to buy for what occasion.

The warmer the better

Top Australian surfing brands Billabong and Quiksilver have taken the reigns in the wetsuit department but UK manufacturers for wetsuits Spartan and the National Physical Laboratory have broken ground with a new wetsuit that will keep one warmer for longer. The wetsuit was aimed for windsurfers in order to keep them warm whilst they stand on their board. They hope that will benefit both the wetsuit and water sports industries economically.

The right type

Until the Spartan reaches retail level, one must settle with the current wetsuits on the market. One needs to know that the thicker the wetsuit, the warmer it will keep you. Wetsuits also protects one from dangers such as coral, jellyfish, sunburn and others. The problem with thick suits is that they tend to be rather stiff. There are modern technologies that are working on the neoprene becoming more flexible. Wetsuits come in different shapes such as a vest which give minimal coverage, a jacket which just covers the torso and arms, a shorty which just covers the torso and has short sleeves and the full suit which covers the full length and the legs and the arms. One can also buy separate hoods and boots for their wetsuits.

Get ready for summer

With kite surfing, sailing and jet-skiing becoming more popular in Britain the need for just the right type of wetsuit and one must remember that until Spartan releases the new warm thermal wetsuit, the thicker the suit is, the warmer it will keep you.
