Summer is the perfect season to enjoy the great weather and some time off by relaxing in the sun. You’ll need to remember, though, that time in the sun can be dangerous, and you’ll need to take precautions to avoid damaging your skin. Find out about how to prepare for a day in the sun and know that you’re well-protected – that way, you can enjoy your day outdoors with the peace of mind of knowing that it’s doing more good than harm.

Wear sunscreen

When you’re relaxing on the sun loungers, keep a tube of sunscreen with a high SPF factor nearby. Apply it as regularly as the instructions on the packaging tell you to, or more often if you feel that it’s necessary. If you’re worried about this interfering with your tanning process, just think about the alternative – sunburn – which is both dangerous and unattractive. A glow that you’ve developed slowly in the sun will last longer than a quick tan, anyway.

Face first

Remember that your face is the part of your body with the most delicate, vulnerable skin. Keep it safe by wearing a hat in the sun. A wide-brimmed one is probably the least likely to leave you with a strange tan after your day outdoors, but try a few until you find one that keep you protected while still allowing you to spend the day outdoors without ageing your skin.

Get outside – then get inside

Getting some sun is good for you, but that doesn’t mean that you should spend prolonged periods of time out there. Go inside every couple of hours to refill your water bottle, get yourself a healthy summer snack, and give your skin a break from the sun’s rays. Take it easy – after all, you’ve got all summer.
