As the 2010 Glastonbury Festival draws closer – it’s on from 25 to 27 June – excitement about the show mounts and its line-up increases. Extra camping space is available this year to provide a more pleasant camping experience for the capacity crowds expected for the festival’s twentieth anniversary event. The bad news for those who haven’t got tickets is that the final batch has already sold out –to eager fans who bought them just over an hour after they went on sale.

Shakira has recently joined the Glastonbury Festival line-up, adding her name to a list of superstar acts including U2, Norah Jones, and Snoop Dogg. For those looking for something a little less pop and a little more indie, Vampire Weekend, Kate Nash, and Empire of the Sun can also be seen on stage at Glastonbury – not to forget MGMT. On the West Holts Stage (previously known as the Jazzworld stage) fans will be able to see Mos Def and George Clinton, among others.

The last tickets available for Glastonbury 2010 went on sale at 9am on 11 April, and were sold out by 10:07 a.m. The last remaining coach passes were sold out, too, shortly afterwards. It’s estimated that approximately 178,000 festival-goers will attend the event.
Extra camping space
In addition to introducing a new family camping space, Glastonbury organisers have also introduced another substantial area for camping. This is in spite of the fact that the festival’s capacity will not be increased – so it shouldn’t be nearly as difficult finding room for tents and moving around this year. All in all, it looks as if Glastonbury 2010 will be a suitable celebration of forty years of the music festival – and fans will be doing whatever they can to be a part of it.
