Nothing makes a girl happier than a pair of beautifully crafted high heel stilettos, and shoes this summer are taking their cue from autumn’s 2010 collections. That means we can expect to see glamorous, elegant, ankle breaking shoes on the pavements of the high street this summer.
Sky scraper heels
The return of the five inch stiletto heel is back, and if you are one of those girls who simply can’t bear anything more than a simple kitten heel, you will just have to practise teetering around on this season’s sky scraper heel trend at home before braving the clubs and bars this summer. Platforms and wedges are also making a comeback, and are much easier to conquer than high heel stilettos, so at least you have options.
Alexander McQueen (R.I.P) has taken towering heels to a whole new level, with his spring/summer 2010 alligator seven inch concealed platforms having editors at top magazines and fashion houses in a hot, high heel fluster. They are more than shoes, they are a work of art, and it will take dedicated shoe fetishists and true believers to pull off these magnificent masterpieces (ankle strengthening exercises might also be beneficial).

Other designers jumping on the high heel stiletto band wagon are Lanvin, with their double platform heels that have a great 1950s throwback. Gwen Stefani is known for her unique style and remarkable shoes, and has designed a great line for her Harajuku Lover’s collection featuring a selection of platformed and concealed double platform heels in great styles and bright colours.
Bebe, Guess, Louis Vuitton and Christian Laboutin had models marching down the runway in four to seven inch stiletto heels and platforms, literally taking this season’s shoe trend to a whole new level.
The quirkier, the better

There has also been an influx of quirky, unique and ‘out there’ statement shoes making their mark on the runway this season, and it will take guts and stamina to wear them in public. Dsquared, Louise Golden and Chanel have brought embellished, stylish and fashionably unconventional shoes back to the frontlines of fashion.
Boots draped in fur (yes, real fur), sequins and crystals, and five inch heels depicting the pristine bone-white colouring and curvature of a human spine are the crippling trends we can look forward to this summer. Start perfecting that catwalk strut now ladies, as this season’s shoes are not for the faint hearted.
