Technology that seems more likely to be found in the living room is now making itself equally at home in the kitchen, as the Jenn-Air wall oven revolutionises the way cooking works. Taking the guesswork out of food preparation, this new oven provides the user with a glass touch screen and a cooking guide featuring over 50 settings. It seems that there’s really no excuse anymore for anyone to say that they don’t know how to cook.
Welcome to Jenn-Air
The first thing you might notice about Jenn-Air’s appliances might be their sleek good looks, but the brand is also renowned for its ability to use technology to make the kitchen a more pleasant place to be, with intelligent and beautiful designs in cooking appliances, fridges, and laundry technology. It seems, however, that they’ve outdone themselves in the features department with their new wall oven.

The touchscreen is made of glass and enables a Culinary Centre that lets the user enter details of what category of food they’re cooking, what they’re cooking it in, and how well-done they’d like it to be. The screen displays images of the food’s levels of cooking, as well as demonstrations of where and how food thermometers should be inserted. The touchscreen works using technology called ‘Touch Anywhere’, allowing you to use it doing just that.
No preheating?
It sounds difficult to believe, but this new oven from Jenn-Air has a function that makes preheating obsolete – the oven is powerful enough to get itself ready to cook instantly. This wall oven will certainly save time, and for catering and for times when you just can’t wait to eat whatever you’re preparing, this will be a huge benefit.
The specifics
The Jenn-Air oven is available in two sizes – the 27-inch model and the 30-inch model – in no-convection, single-convection and double-convection options. The best choice, though, might be the microwave and wall oven combinations. The oven’s screen, at seven inches, is the largest of its kind. It’s worth noting that there are 6.8kw dual convection settings, which are the strongest currently available.

Get the look
The new oven also comes in a variety of finishes: there’s stainless steel, black, oiled bronze, and a white floating glass look. When it’s not in use, the screen displays one of 24 themes, each of them also displaying a clock. Of course, the touchscreen eliminates the need for ugly buttons or knobs, creating a smoother and more streamlined appearance for the kitchen.
It’s got to be perfect
Does the Jenn-air take all the art and fun out of cooking? Probably not. It’s not preventing avid cooks from checking their cooking themselves for the perfect level of readiness, but it is using technology to give everyone the opportunity to get their cooking right every time, and that can hardly be a bad thing. Art and science can both use precision, and the Jenn-Air provides it, letting the cook and the oven’s intuition combine to produce culinary perfection.
