Chef Gordon Ramsay to open two restaurants in Australia

Chef Gordon Ramsay has had a lot on his plate lately, what with minor surgery to remove varicose veins, (it’s a chef thing), and an alleged scandal involving a mistress he’s been accused of seeing on the sly since 2001, to finding himself in throes of the recession, nearly having to claim bankruptcy on his multi-million pound business empire, Ramsay has certainly had to deal with his fair share of drama.

Luckily none of this negative publicity has stopped the outspoken chef from carrying on with exciting new projects that foodies can look forward to, including the opening of Maze restaurant and Maze Grill in Melbourne later on this month.

Melbourne gets ready for Maze

Maze restaurant and Maze Grill will be Gordon Ramsay’s first Australian ventures and he has appointed one of his most trusted and talented chefs, Josh Emett, as Chef de Cuisine of both restaurants.

Maze restaurant is known for its tasting-sized dishes, and Maze Melbourne will stick to the signature entrées that have made the restaurant chain so popular in places like London, Cape Town and New York. Maze Grill has a more informal atmosphere, taking its cue from New York-style grill houses. The menu is less discerning, offering meat loving patrons select cuts of prime beef, lamb and pork to satisfy those carnivorous cravings.

For the wannabe sommeliers out there, and those of you who just enjoy a good glass (or bottle) of wine, Maze restaurant and Maze Grill also offer a large selection of wine and champagne from Chile, France and Germany, to name a few. The Maze franchise is known for adding local elements to their dishes, so Australian wine and cuisine are sure to make an appearance on the menu.

Not able to get to one of Gordon Ramsay’s infamous restaurants, but still want to eat gourmet style food? Cook it yourself! There are a number of grills, blender’s and even toasters on the market that will make anyone cook like a pro in the kitchen.
