Fashion is probably one of the most dynamic ways to reinvent yourself, and this autumn’s 2010/2011 fashion trends are definitely driving that point home. This season, fashion weeks were awash with an amalgamation of old and new that inspired, provoked and exhilarated fashionistas, journalists and socialites alike. From revived retro trends from designers such as Twenty8Twelve’s throw back to 80’s club culture (think aggressive neon, acid washed denim and velvet), to Matthew Williamson’s tribute to Spain and the matador culture, bright colours reigned supreme on the runways this season.
Catwalk fashion: what to expect on the high street this season
Purple and cobalt blue are still predominant colours, along with bold, in-your-face electric neons and animal prints, bringing an element of kitsch and cool into the mix.

Velvet dominated at Armani, Max Mara and Dolce and Gabana, in plush greens, deep purples and seductive reds, bringing the best of the 70s and 80s to the forefront of fashion. A-line mini skirts were another quirky throw back to the 80s, giving catwalk fashion a new spin on an old favourite that will easily be picked up by your local department stores and trendy boutiques.

It isn’t easy for everyday women to pull off catwalk fashion, but there are plenty of other ways for you to get your fashion fix. Accessories are a great way of keeping up to date with the latest fashion trends, while still maintaining your easy, everyday look. If you don’t see yourself in a velvet animal print neon pink top, wayfarer sunglasses and acid wash jeans, a simple accessory is all you need to spruce up a bland outfit. Items such as a striking handbag are a great get your fashion fix without going overboard or looking like you stepped out of a Molly Ringwald movie.
Keeping all of this in mind, getting your fashion fix this autumn should be a piece of cake!
