Milan fashion week featured the new looks for autumn 2010. Wrap-up coats dominated the show, from tweed to cashmere, the less skin showing the better. Vintage meets modern in these autumn collections, with dresses covered in fringe and chic fur coats that epitomise elegance. Roberto Cavalli is one designer who celebrated 40 years delighting the fashion world. His range at Milan fashion week 2010 was all about fur and that rich Nordic look.

Cavalli clothes featured coats decorated in Victorian patterns, dark scarves, animal print pants, and long light-coloured dresses with plenty of volume. With bags to die for and the shoes ranging from glamorous leather heels to fur boots. Cavalli shows off his distinct style with class.

Armani’s fall collections had a feminine touch to it, with light colours of grey and lilac contrasted with bursts of mango in some combinations. With short tops and high pants, ruffles giving that extra edge in the jackets, and the dresses were soft, wispy and light. The bags had a crocodile and snake look, but the main stand-out feature was crystal black necklaces with a futuristic, sharp look.

Marni

Consuelo Castiglioni of Marni showed off her eccentric bohemian style with textured fabric, and structured cuts. With circles clashing with stripes carrying out her geometric motif, and high wasted dresses with black knee-high socks overlapped with olive ankle socks, Marni carried out her weird, and wonderful look, with a bit of a surreal touch. Her autumn 2010 range was correctly called ‘twisted elegance’.

Dolce & Gabbana

The famous Italian duo of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana celebrated their 25 years of fashion collaboration at the Milan fashion week 2010. They never fail to impress, and their autumn collection was a visual delight, with a background of black and white images of their work in the studio. The collection called ‘Sartorialita, Sicilianita, Sensualita’ was traditional D&G, featuring their signature corsetry, animal print, and their classic black attire that has always characterised the Sicilian woman, but been modernised with both knitwear and satin.

Autumn Collections

The Autumn 2010 range has been an array of different looks and fabrics, from heavy woollen coats, to light satin. The next season is bound to be one of great style and keeping warm in the winter months.
