If you’re feeling tired all the time, don’t feel alone because over five million people in the UK feel the same way. For some people, the feeling of fatigue and weariness goes on for years. Whatever degree of lethargy you have, it’s something that should be addressed. Check with a doctor that you don’t have health issues. If nothing is done about it, you may continue to feel too tired to do anything and life will slip you by.
Check your health
The first thing to do if you’re feeling tired all the time is to pay a visit to your doctor. Health problems like an underactive thyroid, diabetes and cancer can cause feelings of tiredness. Advise your doctor of your concerns and that you wish to eliminate the possibility that you may have a health problem. Get a second opinion if necessary.
Depression can lead to feelings of mental dullness and lethargy. Once again, speak to a physician in order to find out the reality of the situation. Linked to depression are negative emotions, feeling unhappy with your life or feeling stressed.
Getting over feeling tired all the time
If you find that you are healthy, the cause of your tiredness may well be that you’re not managing yourself correctly. You may not be getting enough oxygen into your body through lack of exercise or you may be eating the wrong foods, in which case, investigate a balanced diet that will work for you and get some fresh air into your lungs.
Not only will exercise bring much needed extra oxygen but it will also increase your blood circulation. Simply walking for half an hour a day, three days a week will make you feel more alive. Preferably walk in places that are full of trees and plants as you will get plenty of positive ions into your system.
Cook your food lightly and eat plenty of fresh vegetables (including root vegetables) and whole grains. Avoid sugar and alcohol. When you return to giving your body attention, your brain will start functioning better too.
