It’s easier to make goals happen when they are realistic and balanced. Once you’ve committed your goals to writing, the next step is to get yourself into a positive state of mind. If you are focused, flexible and you’re enjoying what you’re doing, you’ll develop the confidence to go forward. A life coach can help motivate you to achieve your goals by encouraging you to be honest with yourself and to face your fears along the way.

Getting into the right frame of mind

Having a positive and optimistic outlook will boost your efforts tremendously. Remind yourself of your goals every day and that you have what it takes to achieve them. If you’re facing a challenging situation, look in the mirror and tell yourself whatever you need to in order to feel more confident. By acting confident, you’ll become more confident.

Dedicate yourself to whatever it is you’re doing 100 per cent. By concentrating on the job at hand, even for short periods at a time, you’ll be able to achieve considerably more.

Stretch yourself ‑ realistically

Before you go forward with your goals, check that they fit you and that you fit them. Rather approach your goals realistically than go beyond the bounds of possibility only to end up disappointed and frustrated. Remember that there are several things you can do for every one thing you can’t.

On the other hand, there’s no point in only doing what you know you can do as this won’t allow you to stretch yourself. Try and surprise yourself by pushing yourself beyond your normal limits. See how far you can go. If you’re fearful, break the challenge down into smaller bite-sized parts. And then do it anyway even if you make mistakes or decide it’s not for you after all.

Stay open to life

Once you’ve set a course for yourself, keep focused but don’t hesitate from taking another path that feels right as you stride along. Stay open to life and use your intuition. Believe what your head and your heart tell you rather than acting on the advice of others.
