The one good thing about having a butterfly brain is that it can be made into an efficient powerhouse. That’s because the brain can be trained just like the body can, allowing for better performance and stamina. By improving your mental concentration, you can save large amounts of energy and become much more productive. Say goodbye to allowing yourself to be distracted and wasting oodles of time avoiding problems and boring tasks. When you maximise your mental power, you also maximise your time.

Improve mental power through diet

The body needs a constant supply of glucose to function well. The best foods are slow-release complex carbohydrates like grains and pulses. Whatever complex carbohydrates you choose to eat, make sure they have a low glycaemic index.

Eat a well balanced low-GI breakfast and several small meals throughout the day. Eat a balanced meal at lunch time including some protein. Get plenty of antioxidants and essential fatty acids from plants, nuts and seeds. A high carbohydrate meal should be left until the evening as this can help to slow your brain functioning before you sleep.

Maximise your mental power through exercise

It’s important to keep your body fit and trim through exercise and a good diet and so it is with the brain. The body needs a constant supply of blood and oxygen, just as it needs a constant supply of glucose. Keep fit and exercise regularly so that you have good circulation throughout your body.

A strong and balanced body will allow your brain to work more effectively. Fit people suffer less from loss of intellect than those who are unfit. A healthy body also allows for a well-functioning immune system.

Maximise your brain by using it more. A brain that is regularly stretched and used retains its high performance much longer than a brain that is not used or under-used.
