How to save water at home

With World Environment Day coming up tomorrow, it’s a good time to think about what you can do – in your own home – to use less power, reduce the waste you produce, and consider how to save water. According to charity Waterwise, the average person in the UK uses 150 litres of water a day. The government is hoping to reduce this to 130 litres a day by 2030. Home appliances like washing machines are among Britons’ favourite inventions

A recent survey with a few surprising results saw Britons voting for the inventions that they thought were the most important in history. While the wheel took first place, a number of the highest votes showed that inventions are most valued when they’re close to home. The knife and fork, the food blender, the bottle opener, the microwave, the fridge, and the freezer all made the top 100 list, but it seems that washing machines – in 12th place – are Britain’s favourite appliances.
