First Aid at Home

There is an age- old saying that prevention are always better than cure, but no safety measures can completely prevent accidents. Small accidental injuries are a part of everyday life, which can happen anywhere and anytime, so it is essential to have a first-aid kit at home. Especially if you have children, it becomes more important for you to have a well-stocked first-aid kit at home at all times. Additionally, you can also keep one kit in your car as well as one to be taken on family vacations.

Items to Be Included in Your First Aid Kit:

Always try to get a durable, handy and easy to open container for your first-aid kit. Ideally, a first-aid kit must include the following items:

  • A first-aid manual, which will help you to select the right treatment
  • A pack of adhesive bandages in different sizes
  • Medicated soap
  • An antiseptic liquid like hydrogen peroxide and wipes
  • Tweezers and safety pins
  • A pair of scissors
  • A thermometer
  • One or two pairs of plastic gloves
  • Cough syrup and decongestant tablets
  • An antibiotic ointment and gauze
  • Instant cold packs
  • Acetaminophen and aspirin tablets
  • A torch
  • A list of emergency phone numbers

Along with all the above-mentioned items, also include any specific medicines that any of your family members have been prescribed. It is important to remember to restore the missing items in your first-aid kit as well as replace any expired medicines.
