Counting calories: soon you’ll be able to do it in restaurants, too

Many weight loss plans depend on adding up how many calories you consume in a day, and that’s generally easy with the help of calorie labels on food packaging, but can become different when eating out. Now, new government suggestions seem set to place calorie counts, along with other nutritional information, on British menus in an effort to help restaurant patrons to make healthier food choices. Brits prefer home cooking to just about everything

A recent study commissioned by Richmond Sausages has found which meals makes Britons long for home – and has demonstrated that British mums are definitely getting it right in the kitchen. Many of the study’s participants prefer their mum’s home cooking to their own cooking, their partners’ efforts in the kitchen, and even the meals they can get in five-star restaurants. Now, the company has launched a competition to find the recipe that Brits love best. (more…)
