Keeping an eye on your posture

Good posture can take years off your appearance. If you suffers from poor posture on the other hand, you not only look much older one can feel old too. In order to have good posture, one has to have strong lower back and stomach muscles as well as muscles that are supported by a well balanced skeleton. The muscles shouldn’t be overworked or underworked. Overly-long, bulky or tight muscles can lead to musculo-skeletal tension and poor posture. (more…)

Having a fat day?

A fat day is similar to a bad hair day: you wake up feeling insecure and somewhat worthless. It’s more of an emotional issue than a logical one. Feelings of self-loathing, guilt and insecurity are transferred to one’s appearance. Fat days and bad hair days have one feeling downright bad about oneself. One’s body becomes a dumping ground for one’s insecurities. Rather than address feelings of loneliness or despair, it is easier to blame it all on one’s hair or fat. (more…)

Getting connected through meditation

Young children find it easy and natural to be themselves but as time passes this ability to be at ease and spontaneous can start slipping away. ‘The most marked feature of this movement away from naturalness is the apparent disappearance of joy, of that inner happiness that characterises the small child,’ states The School for Meditation’s book, On Being Oneself. Stiffness throughout your spine, constant neck or back ache as well as headaches, not being able to turn your head comfortably, not being able to twist your hips easily, feeling a constant tension in your joints or muscles and having a continual need to crack your neck, back and various joints are just a few of the symptoms of a spine that is not in its best form. Five ways pets are good for your health

In the UK almost one in every two families has a pet. Research by the Pet Food Manufacturer’s Association (PFMA) has found that 60 per cent of pet owners say their furry friends make them feel happier and more relaxed and 81 per cent of people agree that ‘Pets are the antidote to a bad mood’. Almost a third of people living in England have high blood pressure while 76 per cent of people aged 45-54 have high cholesterol. High blood pressure and high cholesterol are the major causes of heart disease while smoking, an unhealthy diet and a lack of exercise also put you at risk. New doccie is ‘Vegucating’ the world

A new documentary is hoping to help people make the shift from meat and dairy to a more sustainable vegan diet. For people used to eating meat and potatoes, switching to vegetables, whole grains and vegan sources of protein can be tough.
