Italian antipasto snacks

Antipasto refers to what is served ‘before the meal’ in Italy – and most often comes in the form of titillating platters which include an array of treats from seafood to salads and prosciutto to fruit. The primi piatti or ‘first plates’ follow from there. Here you can expect to have soup or a starchy pasta, risotto or polenta dish. The main dish and dessert then follow suit. How to do dhal

Dhal is the ultimate vegetarian comfort food. It’s creamy, warm and filling – and it’s very low in fat and high in protein. In India, ‘dhal’ means any kind of dried beans and peas. But a firm favourite is mung dhal, made from split mung beans cooked very slowly with chillies, garlic, turmeric and other spices. Cooked thin, this recipe can be used as a soup, while a thick mung dhal is perfect served on basmati rice and garnished with a little fresh coriander. (more…)
