Baking bread is much more rewarding than buying the store bought variety, and all you really need is a good recipe and a little time.

Recipes Using Sourdough Bread: Some Delicious Home Made Suggestions
Sour dough is a type of dough prepared by using a lactobacillus culture mostly in symbiotic combination with yeasts. It is one of the principal forms of leavening in bread making and is of particular importance in baking rye-based breads where the performance of cultivated forms of yeasts has not been satisfactory. Sourdough bread is prepared by using a small amount of the starter dough containing the culture; it is then mixed with new flour and water. Part of this freshly prepared dough is then saved for preparing the next batch. Due to increasing demand for sourdough breads, a number of recipes using sourdough bread have been invented recently.
