Ageing Irish professional men are crowding local cosmetic surgery clinics for Botox in the hope that it will help them get work. According to Aisling Holly, the managing director of cosmetic surgery company The Hospital Group, there has been a massive increase in the number of men visiting their clinics for Botox. Middle-aged solicitors and accountants, she says, are finding it hard to compete against younger men in the job market. (more…)

If you rely on a Botox shot or two (or three or four) to help keep wrinkles at bay, you may not only be preventing your face from expressing emotions – you could even be preventing yourself from feeling them properly. LiveScience reports that a Botox shot’s effect on your facial muscles could interfere with brain activity. Facial expressions are linked to emotions, scientists believe. (more…)

It is ironic that the process that is aimed to decrease the amount of wrinkles that one has could just be what is creating them. Recent research done by Dr. David Becker, an assistant professor of dermatology at the Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, and published in The Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, has claimed that the muscle areas that are not injecting with Botox will still find a way to express the emotions that Botox has prevented. Therefore although those that are injected with Botox do not have lines on their forehead anymore, the lines reappear on other areas of their face. (more…)
