Parenting can be a difficult and daunting process but it doesn’t have to be one that you face alone. There will come a time in parenting when you feel like you just can’t do it anymore and this is the time when you need to reach out and ask for help. Develop a support network and you won’t feel so alone in the parenting process, especially if you are a single parent.

Childcare

Right from an early age you shouldn’t be afraid to ask for help with childcare. A nanny or an after care can really lend a hand when it comes to looking after your children. While your child is being looked after you can have some time to yourself to run errands, work or simply relax. Church and after school programmes are also a great place for your child to learn important life lessons while meeting new friends and gaining social skills.

Drugs and suicide

These deathly issues can really take a toll on you as a parent as well as the relationship you have with your child. If you suspect your child is using drugs or is thinking about suicide get help immediately before it is too late. Reach out to support groups or call a help line that can give you advice on what to do further. Remember that you are not alone during this difficult time and it is ultimately not your fault.

Family

Try not to exclude your family from playing a role in your child’s life. Family and friends can be a great help when it comes to parenting and you might even find that they want to help. Your parents probably love to babysit your little one while your best friend might love shopping for clothes for your beloved child. Don’t be afraid to ask for their help and listen to their advice even if you don’t apply it.
