A halogen oven is an oven that works more efficiently than traditional ovens, as well as being more economically friendly. It works by rapidly transferring hot air through the cooker so that the food is more evenly baked, as well as more rapidly prepared than if hot air was static, as is the case in conventional ovens .
The Advantage
A halogen oven is portable, attractive, and ecologically friendly by using up to 75% less energy. They are free of the byproducts of conventional ovens: smoke, heat and odour.
The Uses
The primary use of these ovens is to cook small meals more rapidly. A roast that would take an hour to bake takes 40-50 minutes in a halogen oven. Its portability makes it great for mobile homes or for taking on vacations. Its efficiency will also do wonders for anybody who is battling high electricity bills

Food In The Spotlight
Looking at the food in more detail, the jury is still out on whether the outcome – the actual taste – of the food is superior to that prepared in conventional ovens. While many argue that the taste is identical, others argue the colour of the food as well as its overall texture is not the same. In addition, the range of food it can cook with success is also debated and, as such, whether it can completely replace a conventional oven is disputed.
The Future?
A halogen oven is clearly more useful for preparing a wide range of foods that would otherwise take you longer to cook in a bigger, bulkier, more energy-intensive oven. But due to dispute regarding the quality of the food they produce, they’re not likely to completely replace the good old fashioned oven anytime soon.
