Monday blues are not caused solely by the belief that the weekend was far too short or the prospect of another miserable day at the office. Sometimes, even after getting to bed fairly early, you feel tired and sluggish. There are many reasons for this lack of energy and, in turn, there are many ways to deal with it. One of the first things to evaluate would be your diet. Together with regular exercise and enough quality sleep, you should consider incorporating energy-boosting foods into your diet.
It’s about quality and quantity
It’s recommended that you eat smaller meals of energy-boosting foods at regular intervals, instead of just a few, large meals. So here are a few suggestions to help you regain your zest for life.
Oats are one of the best sources of energy as well as vitamin B, which is very effective in lowering your stress levels. They also have a low glycemic index (GI) so they release energy slower and for longer periods of time. They also contain high levels of fibre.
Lentils are also a great choice. They’re full of fibre, iron, magnesium, vitamin B, potassium, zinc, copper and calcium. Low in fat, they also help reduce your cholesterol and blood pressure.
Other foods that will boost your energy levels include bananas, grapes and almonds. There are lots of great recipes out there that you can easily incorporate into your diet.
Stay hydrated
A final thing to remember is that drinking enough water and other hydrating fluids will help with circulation, which will ensure that all the nutrients and minerals you gain from these super foods get to every part of your body that requires them, and are absorbed correctly. Otherwise, they’ll be flushed out of your system with very little effect.
So, go on, put on that chef’s hat and get cooking. Keep in mind that the fresher and the more natural the food, the better it will be for you.
