Are you getting cold feet thinking about the amount of cooking that you have to do this Christmas? It is obviously not an easy task serving the hordes of visitors that flock in during the Christmas season, nor is managing to please everyone. We are however conscious of the mental ordeal that you are going through and would like to offer some light-hearted cooking tips that should help you celebrate Christmas in the right spirit without feeling exploited.
It is always a good idea to start early. Decide on the special dishes that you wish to churn up this Christmas, as early as December if not earlier. The same goes while ordering for the ingredients that you will need to rustle up the dishes, say a decent turkey or goose. Order them well in advance, or you can even try buying them in advance and popping it in the freezer, which should also be large, like the Hotpoint FF4DX, to accommodate all the food.
Likewise if you manage to prepare some dishes and meals before the final assault it will be a big relief. Peel vegetables late on Christmas Eve, and store them in pans of water in the fridge ready to chop and cook the following day.
It is important that you have a realistic estimate of how much you can serve and capable of. It is unrealistic to think of serving a uncharacteristically big flow of visitors. After all, Christmas season is not only about cooking and you need to save some moments with your near and dear ones, and also take part in the festivities, if necessary get some ready-made stuff that will help in reducing the burden.
Another important thing that you need to do is get people to assist you in the cooking. This will not only reduce your workload, but make the whole process more entertaining and rewarding.
The most important point that supercedes all the above is, please try to enjoy what you are doing. Or else you will end up goofing and blaming every little creature that comes your way!
