Everyone knows that frozen food saves you time, but can it allow you to eat more healthily, and to lose weight, too? If you’re reaching for unhealthy meals and snacks because food that’s good for you takes too long to prepare, then the answer could be ‘yes’. Prepare it at home and use the best ingredients you can find to ensure that your frozen meals are tasty, good for you, and plan ahead to ensure that your meals are as healthy as they possible.
Souped up
Making soup is easy, especially when you use a blender, and soups are probably the best food to store in the freezer for later. You can use any soup recipe or create your own to suit your tastes and the nutrients that you want to get from your meals.

Bakes, casseroles, and pies all freeze very well in the freezer. Keep them healthy with lean meat and lots of vegetables, and freeze in individual, small portions to prevent yourself from overeating later.

There are some nutrients that you can only get from fresh food, so add a simple salad alongside or as a starter to your pre-planned meal. Keep it colourful and interesting with peppers, cherry tomatoes, and even fruit like apples and melon. Use olive oil and balsamic vinegar instead of the kind of salad dressing that comes in a bottle to get more flavour and the essential fatty acids that’ll help you lose weight.
Quality and quantity
If you’re making large amounts of food, buying your ingredients in bulk will mean that you can afford to buy better products. How big a quantity is too much? Well, that depends only on the space you have available. If you’re cooking for the whole family for a while in advance, chest freezers are useful and keep the regular freezer free for other ingredients. Freezing meals can help you to eat healthier – you just need to plan well.
