Indiana Jones LEGO
After LEGO joined up forces with Star Wars, many couldn’t wait for it to come together with the other classic Lucasfilm series: Indiana Jones. All fans of the adventurous archeologist and the famous Danish bricks had their wishes come true when, in 2007, the new LEGO Indiana Jones franchise was announced and actually launched in 2008.

Based on the films
Like the Star Wars series before it, the LEGO sets were based on specific scenes from the main Indiana Jones films, namely, Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Last Crusade to start with. Only LEGO could capture entire breathtaking scenes, like the opening of Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indy has to escape from the rolling boulder, in one model set; in this case the large and popular Temple Escape (7623) model (see photo below). Where LEGO Star Wars focused of spaceships, the LEGO Indiana Jones sets concentrate primarily on recreating classic scenes in LEGO, whether the Venice Canal Chase from the Last Crusade film or the smaller Ambush in Cairo model to commemorate the famous sword vs. gun fight from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Classic scenes in LEGO
To mark the release of the newest Indiana Jones film, Temple of the Crystal Skull in 2008, LEGO also released new model sets from the upcoming movie, as well as individual LEGO figures like Mutt Williams, Irina Spalko or a Russian Solider. Finally, even the one movie they glossed over, The Temple of Doom, did eventually get its own, aptly named, The Temple of Doom LEGO model set. So, if you were a fan of any of the four Indy movies, you’ll find at least one appropriate LEGO set with which to reenact your favourite scenes. Of course, if all you want is Indiana Jones himself in LEGO format (hat and whip included), then you can also get only this figure separate.

LEGO Indiana Jones video games too
As one of the more popular LEGO series, it was not unexpected when Traveller’s Tales chose LEGO Indiana Jones for not one, but two video games. These two games, namely, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, and LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues, followed Indy through his onscreen exploits in all four films (only the first three in ‘The Original Adventures’). Of course, they lack the thrill of actually assembling your LEGO bricks, but make up for it with a huge amount of interactivity, exciting scenes, story re-enactment and cuteness. The games themselves actually also earned fairly decent, around 8/10, review scores, meaning they ought to appeal to more than just the LEGO or Indiana Jones fanatic.
