Bionicle LEGO

The LEGO Bionicle series is not your ordinary LEGO, no, these toys are actually part of an action packed story that’s spanned nearly a decade, with classic characters and plot lines. Mirrowing the science fiction Bionicle universe, filled with half bioligical and half machine creatures living in the below ground world of Matoran, LEGO Bionicle marked the first time LEGO toys were actually based on a work of fiction created by LEGO themselves. Moreover, as far as the Bionicle background story goes, the whole theme was more than just an afterthought. It was actually a series on its own, with comics, movies, and books telling the Bionicle story, after which a new LEGO product would come out reflecting the latest occurrence in Bionicle narrative.

Vibrant Matoran universe

The actual parallel Bionicle story first began in 2001 and has had various episodes, twist, turns and other major developments over the last decade. Set in the Matoran universe amid the backdrop of Mata Nui, a great spiritual and protective being that was cast down and then revived, the story is told through multiple chapters. All the parts are either told through books, comics or films. For those new to the series, you can watch an entire recap on the official Bionicle website. In 2009, the official Bionicle stories went in a separate direction and, apparently, the entire saga will come to an end in Winter 2010. LEGO spokespeople have said their is no plan for the LEGO Bionicle product range to be extended at this time, although online fiction work on the Bionicle universe will apparently continue.

Action packed story meets LEGO

The Bionicle line of LEGO combine action packed story telling and LEGO toys to create a perfect mix. Compelling thanks to the Bionicle universe backdrop and story, but also at the same time inventive and creative as any other LEGO toys. The innovative concept was rewarded too, as Bionicle played a large role in returning the LEGO Group to profitability throughout the last 10 years. For instance, Bionicle LEGO become the number one selling LEGO product series in 2003 and in 2004 accounted for much of the company’s turnover, and again in 2005 it was also the best selling theme.

Watch Piraka Rap Video on Youtube

Description: Yay! TVTropes lists it under Narm - Advertising and So Bad It's Good! Golly! Bionicle video featuring the Piraka (minus one ex-Piraka). Music: the Piraka Rap from the LEGO commercial. EDIT: As of September 2008, I've seen a handful of people mentioning the existence of an "official" Piraka Rap video, even claiming that I have stolen and uploaded it, and I've also discovered this video in a .zip file containing only official Bionicle media on BZPower.com. Suffice to say, it isn't official. It is a simple fan-work that I created with the help of the official Piraka videos -- that is the only thing that is official property of Ghost, The Lego Company, or whoever owns it. Other than the usage of these video clips, this is strictly a fan-project, and should not be treated as official material (and in no way should anyone say I stole it to promote it as my own work). Thank you for your understanding. ===DISCLAIMER=== I do not own the rights to the song "Piraka Rap", and I don't even know whether anyone does or wants to. Nevertheless, this fan-made video was purely made for entertainment purposes, and as thus, any potential copyright violation is utterly unintentional. I respect the original owners' rights. Again, this video is purely a gesture of admiration and respect to the contents' creators and to their fans.
