Batman LEGO
Following in the footsteps of other successful pop culture classics turned LEGO, the famous brick company introduced its new LEGO Batman theme in 2006. LEGO received the official licence from DC comics, and the new LEGO Batman toys incorporated all kinds of aspects from the Gotham heroes.
Batmobile, Batcycle and more
Just like with LEGO Indiana Jones or LEGO Star Wars, different parts from different films and comics were used to base LEGO Batman models off of. For instance, the Batmobile looks just like the one used in the earlier films, Batman and Batman returns directed by Tim Burton. However, the Bat-tank takes its cue from the much tougher looking Batmobile used in the Dark Knight Returns comics. Either way, LEGO definitely captured the Batman Gotham feel, with various sets including the Batcave, Batcycle, Batwing, and obviously the Batmobile we mentioned earlier.
LEGO Batman Figurines
The actual LEGO Batman toy theme was fairly short lived, lasting only from 2006 to 2008. As a result we only have a view released LEGO model sets, including ones like the Batboat and Arkham Asylum. Though there were only a few LEGO Batman sets released, nearly all the iconic Batman characters, including Batman, Robin, The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler, and of course Mr. Freeze, have been captured as LEGO mini-figures. So if you just a miniature Batman figurine as decoration you can get one.
Inspired video game
As with the LEGO Star Wars series before it, LEGO Batman also inspired a video game done by Traveller’s Tales. Released in 2008, the game known rather appropriately as “Lego Batman: The Videogame“, played out in much the same way as previous LEGO video games. The action takes place in the third person and the player must fight their way through various enemies, as well as navigate different puzzles and sometimes put together LEGO bricks. Of course, you visit famous locations like Wayne Manor, Arkham Asylum and many parts of Gotham city. Like other LEGO games, one of the coolest parts is that you can play as most of the different characters, including Batman, Batgirl and Robin naturally, but also as the bad guys The Joker, Penguin and Catwomen. The Batman video game received a fairly decent critical reception, scoring 76 out of 100 on Metacritic, for example.
