Eating healthily is essential on your path to weight loss but it can be challenging to come up with exciting, healthy foods that you actually want to eat on a daily basis. Healthy foods can also take longer to prepare than fatty, greasy takeaways and can be more expensive. If you are looking for inexpensive, on the fly healthy foods to eat everyday then carry on reading for suggestions on what to include in your daily diet.

Inexpensive foods

There are some healthy foods that you can incorporate into your diet everyday without breaking the bank. Leafy greens like lettuce and rocket are high in nutrients and vitamins A and C and if you don’t want to buy them from the supermarket consider planting these fast growing veggies in your own yard. Whole grain breads and pastas are not that much more expensive than regular, refined pastas and white breads but have a much higher nutritional value and you can even try making your own bread or pasta.

Something different

If you are in the mood for something unusual but still want to stick to your health diet then consider opting for some salmon. The omega-3 found in fish like salmon helps in the prevention of heart attacks and remember that fresh fish contains less contaminants than farmed fish or fish in a can. Instead of fatty, greasy chips try a sweet potato crisp or a baked sweet potato. Sweet potato is rich in Vitamin C, fibre and potassium and is all round much better for you than a standard potato.

Easy foods

Sometimes we just don’t have time to cook up something healthy and appetising. A small tub of unsweetened yoghurt can be consumed on the fly and it is rich in probiotics which help with digestion. You should always keep some fruits and vegetables packed in your lunchbox – a fruit like mango is packed with Vitamins A and C as well as potassium and fibre while a handful of strawberries can put an end to that sugar craving.

The trick to eating healthily is not only remembering what foods to eat but learning which foods to avoid.
