When we eat the stomach releases gas which sometimes make us feel bloated or too full. Foods that have a high salt of fat content can make you feel bloated but so can certain foods like broccoli. It all just depends on how the body can process and digest the food and the harder it is to digest the more bloated you will end up feeling. The body takes a long time to break down the fats in greasy take-away foods so these should obviously be avoided but what foods can you eat that won’t make you bloat?
Fruit and vegetables
Fruits with high water content are great for beating the bloat because the water helps to flush any waste out of your body. Watermelon, oranges and pineapples are examples of fruits with high water content. Berries are also great fruits to eat because of their high-fibre content. Fibre helps you to stay regulated thus ridding the body of any waste and toxins. Green leaves like lettuce and spinach help with acid indigestion and are also packed full of vitamins and minerals.
Interesting flavours
Certain food substances used to add flavour can also help when it comes to getting rid of that bloated feeling. Garlic is great for reducing fat levels in the liver and that ultimately leads to improved digestion and, therefore, less bloating. Herbs such as peppermint, ginger and chamomile reduce gas in the stomach and so lessen the chance of bloating while chilli helps to reduce fatty-food cravings and speeds up the metabolism.
Some other foods
Any food with a high water content and low salt content is generally great for your system and so should be eaten regularly. Try making some home-made, broth soup but avoid the ones from a can as these often have a high sodium content. Yoghurt promotes bacterial growth in the stomach which helps to reduce the amount of stomach gasses being released. The fibre found in bran cereals and oatmeal also helps in digestion thus prevented that bloated feeling.
