Lethargy is often mistaken for pure laziness, when it’s a genuine lack of energy due to a number of factors. You could be lethargic simply because you’re overworked and just fatigued, or your health is in a bad place, or it could be as a result of psychological and emotional issues. Whatever the cause, there are universal cures for lethargy, and below are some tips on how to go about combating being lethargic.
Fix your eating habits.
What you eat and the state of your body plays a huge part in how lethargic you may feel. You need to eat the right combination of healthy foods, while also doing away with unhealthy foods that affect your health adversely.
Incidentally, there are some foods that can give you major boosts of energy if you’re suffering from severe fatigue, so those are well worth exploring, too. You’ll be surprised to find that changing what you eat alone will help you stop feeling lethargic.
Exercise
Exercise is the second major component to healthy living – behind healthy eating – because it builds up your stamina and fitness level. These work in unison to stave of feeling lethargic or fatigued, meaning in the long run you’ll be able to accomplish even more in a day before feelings of exhaustion creep up on you. Don some running shoes, a good heart rate monitor or smartphone fitness application, and watch and be amazed at how much progress you can make with the right levels of commitment.
Regulate work, and de-stress
Remember that workaholism is as much a disease as alcoholism. There are no ifs ands or buts about it. If you work too hard, it means you’re likely not sleeping enough. It means you’re not relaxing enough. It also means you’re likely not exercising or eating properly. And, most importantly, it means you’ll soon feel fatigue, which can build up all the way to burn out. Burning out is never a good idea. Remember that, and invest in separating yourself from your work. Feeling lethargic, fatigued, stressed, anxious, depressed and moody cannot all be worth the work you do, surely.
Surely.
