Walk more. Walk where? Walk everywhere

One of the wonders of technology – transportation – means that we get from A to B in far less time. The problem is this race from A to B means we miss everything that happens in between. It’s almost a strange disconnection between us and the world we live in; life in a car or in alternate transportation is a life where the smallest social details are missed. And, for those not convinced by this reasoning, trust us when we say there are a ton more reasons to do so.

Walking is good for you

Walking more is exercise. Sure, you don’t burn the high amounts of calories you would if you were to run, or to hit the weights at the gym, but walking is a constant form of exercise that really adds up the more you do it.

It makes for an amazing carbon footprint

Walking more is also fantastic on the environment – unless, of course, you breathe out toxic carbon monoxide. You reduce your carbon footprint, reduce the global dependency on oil, and help out with the horror that is road congestion!

Circumventing traffic

Speaking of which, walking more also equals being caught in less traffic jams. Surely we don’t need to say more on that right? Unless you’re a masochist, you definitely do not enjoy the chore of waiting in traffic congestion.

Walking forces a go slow

The slow, methodical trudge that is walking makes you look at life differently. You plan your time around knowing getting from A to B – particularly handy if you live and work in a city – will take sufficiently longer than just driving, so you teach yourself to work more efficiently when you are on the job, but also enjoy the pleasures of the world around you when not on the job. Driving has made it so that we’re no longer able to see the forest for the trees.

Just get going

And what’s best about walking more is that a decent pair of leisure trainers go for under £50, significantly less money than the fuel you put in your car’s tank, let alone the price of owning a car. The world will love you for walking more, and trust us when we say even you will love you for walking more.
