Calorie restriction diet

There is heavily supported evidence out there that confirms that a calorie restriction diet may drastically improve your chances of longevity. Studies have shown that a calorie restriction diet lowers your cholesterol and blood pressure, and people who stick to a limited calorie diet have a decreased chance of getting cancer and diabetes.

Anti-ageing benefits

People who follow an austere calorie restriction diet believe that not only will they live longer and have less chances of catching fatal diseases, they also believe that a diet very low in calories will turn back the hands of time, due to changes in the metabolic rate function.

Calorie restriction diets are very strict, often limiting practitioners to just 1000 calories a day. The ultimate goal is not to lose weight, but to live longer and look and feel younger. People who adopt this lifestyle change often cut the amount of calories they consume by twenty or thirty percent, and live off of green, leafy salads, carefully chosen lean and low fat proteins, seeds, a limited amount of nuts and healthy supplements like omega-3. Research on monkeys had also shown that after limiting the amount of calories in their diets, their minds are sharper.

It could also help to invest in a juicer or blender, so you can make your own healthy choices as opposed to buying ‘health’ food products at stores that may be loaded with fats and sugars.

Side-effects

Though a calorie restriction diet offers youth and longevity, there may be some harmful side- effects to take into consideration. A severely reduced capacity to perform exercise and severely reduced muscle mass, as well as rapid weight loss are all side effects of this type of diet. If taken too far, one could experience infertility and be more sensitive to colder weather.

Who is it for?

Calorie restriction diets are not for people who are looking for a quick fix weight loss program to fit into those tight jeans for a hot date or high school reunion. This is a serious diet with the end goal of maintaining a longer, more healthy and youthful life.

  1. Ahh. I love eating thought. Don’t do this to me. Good article though. People do not realize what they put in their body. From processed foods, sugar and over eating. We are slowly killing ourselves.

  2. They main thing to consider is moderation. Life is all about moderation. In everything we do, moderation is the most important thing. Drinking alcohol is ok. Drinking excessively is not. Having a bowl of ice cream will make you happy. But having it everyday will be bad for your overall health. I try to eat organic foods, exercise at least three times weekly and enjoy life.
