Flying Tips for Pregnant Women
All of us know either with personal experience or with somebody else’s experience that travelling with children is not easy. It’s not even easy to travel with one in the womb either. Pregnant women travelling by plane will have absolutely no health issues unless they are in either the early or late stages of pregnancy. But with some necessary precautions, the journey can be made safe both for the mother and the baby.
The air pressure inside the plane is slightly lower than the ground and the oxygen level in the blood both for the mother and baby remains normal. But the gastric level in the intestines increases to some extent. Therefore, all pregnant women should always have lots of water or juice and avoid any carbonated drink and also eating excessive food. In case of any turbulence, pregnant women should always fasten the seat belts around the pelvic area, to avoid any kind of pressure on the womb.
Pregnant women should always walk along the aisle, as sitting in one place can cause trouble to the blood circulation in the body and cause swelling of feet. Women in the initial and the final stages of pregnancy should always avoid taking flights unless absolutely necessary as the chances of a miscarriage are higher in the first three months, as are the chances of delivering after the thirty seventh week of pregnancy. Of course, it should be said that at least the pregnant woman does not have to worry about entertaining the baby for the entire flight with baby toys like the Lamaze Octotunes. Last but not the least; prior information to the airlines at the time of booking is always advisable, as it helps in allocating an appropriate seat and making all the necessary assistance available before or on boarding the flight.
