Health Tips for Diabetics


The lifestyles today are becoming more and more convenient, but also more absurd. But with these increasing lifestyle conveniences even the lifestyle diseases are on a rise. Diabetes is one of them. As junk food and tensions are gaining control over our daily routine, they are also sending blood sugar levels soaring.

To gain control over diabetes one needs to maintain blood sugar levels and prevent them from increasing. Broadly speaking a healthy lifestyle can save your from various lifestyle diseases but there are a few tips that you need to keep in mind if you are diabetic.

• Make a schedule for your meals and snacks and try to have them the same time everyday. This helps to maintain your blood sugar levels and keep them stable.
• Try to avoid fats, and even if needed take healthy fats such as in dairy products. Avoid cheese and butter.
• Keep your diet low in fat, sugar and carbohydrates. Keep it high in fibres.
• Do not keep long fasting hours in between meals. Diabetic patients should work on an empty stomach for long and keep eating small meals as it helps insulin to work better.
• You should avoid alcohol. If required a diabetic patient should not take more than 2 glasses per day.
• Exercise is a cure for all kinds of diseases. Brisk walk, using an elliptical machine or treadmill, like the Weslo – M6, yoga or any other form of exercise is highly advisable for diabetics.
• Fibrous foods like oat, wheat and barley are extremely helpful for diabetics.
