There is something very satisfying about growing your own herbs. Not only can they make a difference between bland food and food that explodes in your mouth with flavour, but also because having your own herb garden is a great way to save a few extra pounds – not to mention the amazing health benefits fresh herbs have to offer. So how do you go about growing your own herb garden?
First of all, you will need the right tools to start your kitchen herb garden. You can use any type of container, as long as it’s sturdy and waterproof. Secondly, you will need a good fertiliser. Choose herbs that you know you will use in your everyday cooking. Fresh herbs like basil, oregano and rosemary are pretty common and easy to use, and they add loads of flavour to almost any dish.
Make sure your windowsill gets some sunshine every week. Herbs like a bit of sunshine, but luckily it’s not a necessity. Herbs prefer a dryer soil. They are not known for thriving in swamp-like conditions, so be careful not to over water them

Not only do fresh herbs taste better, they are healthier for you because no pesticides are being used. Rosemary, for example, has been linked to increases in memory, stimulating the digestive system, and increasing circulation.
