Yoga is good for one’s overall health but here we discuss some specific exercises to relieve stress, fatigue and headaches. Yoga helps to free one up both physically and mentally. By doing full yoga sequences on a regular basis, a range of aches and pains can disappear. The keywords here are ‘regular practice’. Many ailments come as a result of inner conflicts or subconscious blocks.
Dealing with stress in the joints
The following exercise will help to rid your body of stress in the joints, as well as help you calm your mind. Sit on a cushion and straighten out your legs so that your feet are in front of you. Slowly rotate your shoulders, your wrists and your ankles, one at a time. Rotate eight times in a clockwise direction and then eight times in the opposite direction. Inhale as you begin a rotation and exhale as you complete it.
Relieving exhaustion
If you are feeling fatigued, this exercise will help to lower blood pressure and increase adrenaline. Lie on a mat on your stomach and place your hands flat next to your head, breathing in slowly. As you breathe out, prepare for a back bend. Do this by straightening your arms so that your upper body can extend into a bend. Remain in this position until it is no longer comfortable.
An exercise to relieve hypertension
Wearing comfortable clothes, position yourself on a mat so that you are sitting on your knees. Bend over slowly so that your forehead is able to rest on the mat. Position your arms next to your knees with your palms facing the ceiling. Relax your body as you hold this position for eight to 10 breaths.
For headaches, close your eyes and place your thumbs in your ears. The next step may sound unusual but it helps to stimulate the release of hormones that calm the mind. Keeping your eyes closed, start humming to yourself in a high pitch. This activates the hypothalamus to release those relaxing hormones.
