Energy efficiency is an important issue to consider while buying a dryer. For any user, energy costs are a major concern as one has to pay a lot of money to cover heating, electricity, water and a variety of other expenses. Since dryers consume a major portion of energy bills, it is important to own energy efficient appliances. While purchasing a dryer, check the Energy Guide ratings though there are other features to look for as well. Some full-size dryers have sensors that determine when the clothes are dry and trigger an automatic shut-off while some other dryers have an adjustable timer that shuts off the machine after a pre-selected period. It is wise to choose a dryer that will shut off automatically as soon as the clothes are dry.
Also, it is advisable to buy a dryer large enough to accommodate the majority of your laundry in two or three loads at the most. This helps so that the dryer runs fewer times a week and helps reduce your monthly energy costs. Some dryers also include feature of a “cool-down” period, where no heat is supplied for the last few minutes of the cycle and cool air is blown through the tumbling clothes. This also dries the clothes and saves energy. In case you want to buy a compact dryer instead of a full-size dryer, then you will have to run it more often as load will dry fewer clothes. Also, you opt for a dryer that uses gas and not electric energy for drying. Find a spin dryer that has a timer that can be manually set. This will let you control how long the dryer runs. Some energy-efficient dryers from various companies are White Knight 28007T, White Knight 28008 SPIN DRY, Creda Debonair Autopump (S202PW), Frigidaire SFD28, Hotpoint S202PW, Hotpoint S102GW and Creda Debonair Gravity Spin Dryer (S102GW).
