The kitchen without doubt is the heart of the house, and as such plays an indispensable role in holding the house together. The moment something wrong happens in the kitchen, which is susceptible to various attacks on account of its very nature, its impact and brunt will be felt by each and every member of the household. A common enemy of the kitchen is germs, which for the record also happens to an enemy of the people. Unless they are dealt with properly they have the potential to create havoc in a person’s life. Therefore, it becomes essential that the kitchen is kept free of these deadly germs.
You should do well to follow the following tips to keep germs and thereby illness at bay:
Make sure that the kitchen is well-ventilated and is airy with plenty of natural and artificial light. Remember that germs tend to thrive on damp conditions, while they perish in dry conditions.
Use good quality nets on the doors and windows to prevent flies and other insects from entering the kitchen. It is also important there is a proper outlet for the exit of smoke produced during cooking.
Clogged drains are a gig no-no as it invariably happens to be the heaven of bacteria and germs.
Faulty and leaking taps need immediate attention, essentially because it produces moisture via which the germs propagate.
Food items and kitchen essentials should be kept in air-tight containers.
Another, very important task to perform is to wipe and clean the entire kitchen surfaces, before and after use. Disinfectants should be spread on specific items like- sink faucets, refrigerator handles, stove handles, cupboard handles, and other areas that you usually touch with your hands. Don’t let cooking and food particles adorn your stove, as they invariably attract flies, cockroaches and germs.
