Taking care of your Denims

Denims form some of the most treasured possessions in your wardrobe. A pair of denims bought once goes on for years to come. Such a valuable and durable garment surely deserves some care and maintenance.

Here are a few tips to take care of your pair of expensive yet rugged denims:

• Always wash your jeans inside out – It is always advisable to wash your jeans inside out as it increases its durability and saves the colour also from fading since you do not expose your delicate fabric to water or detergent. It also decreases the friction in between the clothes and further prevents it from fading.
• Always wash with lukewarm water – Always wash your pair of denims with lukewarm water neither hot water or with cold water. Advanced washing machines, like the Hotpoint WMD960, will often let you set the wash water temperature. Both the extreme temperatures are harmful for the fabric as well as the colour of your denims.
• Use a mild detergent – Use a mild detergent for the jeans because harsh detergents tend to corrode and fade out the colour as well as the fabric.
• Don’t wash your jeans often – It is advisable to wear your jeans twice a week and wash it every fifth day. This prevents your jeans from loosening up and retains the fit.
• Air dry it – Always let your jeans dry in fresh air than drying it in machine dryer so that it can dry safely and doesn’t shrink.
• Do not iron it – Never iron your pair of denims as it will fade away the colour.
