Your Refrigerator Requires Regular Cleaning

We often ignore cleaning our refrigerators, as we don’t want to unplug it even for a short while. These delays can result in a big problem, making your fridge a home to all kinds of harmful germs. So if you have been ignoring it for a long time, it is high time to begin the refrigerator cleaning campaign.

You need to keep the fridge clean to stock it up. One cannot keep shopping and leave the old stuff rotting. So when you decide to clean the fridge, the first step is the timing. It has to be when your old stock is ending and you are about to stock it up again. A day before you plan to stock it up again is always the right time for cleaning your fridge, without making a mess of the rest of the house.

Empty the fridge out. Do not take shortcuts. You can’t take half measures. Everything has to come out ruthlessly. With gigantic fridges like the Whirlpool ARC 4209 you will require a lot of effort, and planning to even empty everything out.  The perishable items must be stored in a cooler. All bottled stuff must be checked for expiry dates. Anything, which you have not used for 2 months or more, needs to be weeded out. Remove all the drawers and shelf and clean them thoroughly.

Now we come to the main part that is the refrigerator. Take a good detergent and make a soapy liquid. Clean by using a cloth. If there is a smell in the refrigerator you can clean it with baking soda. Sometimes the residue of food sticks to the body and hardens. For this, place a heated bowl of vinegar in the fridge. After about five minutes the food will soften and come off.

Clean the washing detergent off with plain water. Make sure there are no soapy particles in the refrigerator. After everything is clean, dry thoroughly.

The outside of the refrigerator also deserves the same treatment to make it sparkling clean. Take a vacuum cleaner and clean the coils behind the refrigerator as well. To maintain freshness you can put a bowl of baking powder inside it.
