How to clean your Floors

You can add a lot of value to your home by using hardwood, stone, tile or any other hard surface floor. The most appealing aspect with these types of flooring is that they are very low on maintenance. But you will still need to clean these floors properly in order for them to look beautiful and, most importantly, last longer.

If your floor is seemingly listless or dull, then there is a very simple solution to make it sparkle and shine. Mop your floor with a solution made by adding 3 cups of vinegar to half a gallon of warm water, with the exception of marble floors. You can also apply the vinegar to the floor with a wet mop and let it dry; this will make the floor come to new life all together.

Ceramic tiles, though very beautiful and functional, have a tendency to become dull with time. The simple and easy trick for keeping these tiles shining is to first spread the soapy water on the entire floor with help of a mop. Of course, a steam cleaner, like the Simac PVT 1040, is always more effective than a mop. Then draw the squeegee across the floor, removing the soapy water. Always remember to clean the squeegee with a clean dry cloth after each stroke.

Removing the wax dripped on the floor is not that difficult now. When the wax is wet, harden it with an ice cube and then scratch it with a plastic spatula or a dull knife. Finally put quite a number of layers of paper towel on the affected area and run warm iron over it. The wax will soften and gradually seep into the paper towel.

If there is a hair spray stain, it is quite difficult to remove with the normal soap water. You can easily get away with it using a sponge or a clean cloth with ammonia with exception of marble flooring.

Cleaning broken egg is now quite simple. Just put some salt over it and wait for 5 minutes, now sweep up the dried up egg. Heel marks can be easily removed with an eraser and crayon scribbles can be cleaned using toothpaste.
