How to effectively Tend to your Beautiful Cactus Plant
A cactus can be widely used as an indoor plant, and do perfectly well even when put in small pots, but do not forget the three essentials: food, water and light. This is one plant which resents pampering. They often thrive better under neglect than they do when too carefully tended.
Whenever you get any plant home, it is always potted and has probably already used up most of the nutrients in its soil. Therefore, plan to repot it after purchase and set a feeding schedule. Most cacti prefer small feeding instead of a single large feeding. You can give food to the plants around three times in one year. Feed them once in autumn, spring and summer with a diluted solution of some plant food currently available in the market.
If the cactus is given adequate light, it can surely survive and flower in the house. Indeed, cacti are so low maintenance they require no pruning, and it will be completely unnecessary to purchase any gardening tools like the Rapid FP20 pliers. The plant should always be placed near some window allowing it to receive enough light throughout the day. Never keep it directly under the sun as a cactus burns just like humans. They need light not direct exposure to the sun. Therefore, if placing them in a patio, they should be always placed under shade.
Watering of cactus plants always requires some extra care and precautions. They should be watered according to the region they are from. No cacti should be allowed to go completely dry, they should be moist. When placed inside the house, then watering should be as little as once a month but if placed outside then it should be every three to four days.
