If you want to keep your youthful, healthy look you don’t have to resort to botox and plastic surgery like many Hollywood celebrities do. There are some simple beauty tricks that you can follow to make yourself not only look, but feel, younger. It is all about choosing products that are good for your skin and colours that won’t age you. So many women make the mistake of dressing like their daughter or applying too much make-up in the hopes of looking younger, but are these habits actually ageing them even more?

The hair

Keeping your hair short will keep it bouncy and healthy and cutting a thick bang will help to hide wrinkles on the forehead while framing your eyes. Keep your hair shiny and healthy by using a moisturising conditioner and avoiding harmful peroxides found in lighter hair dyes. You don’t have to go for an old-fashioned cut but try and stick to one length and colour.

The make-up

Keep your make-up light and natural – heavy foundation and bright eye shadows can age you quickly. Avoid orange lipsticks and dark matte colours that accentuate the lines in your lips and rather go for a light gloss to get that glowing, youthful look. Use plenty of moisturising products or cream-based shadows and blushers to keep your skin looking supple and soft. Keep your eyebrows natural and don’t over-pluck them, like actress Pamela Anderson, or you will just end up looking older.

The clothes

Avoid clothes that ‘match’ like one-colour suits that will just age you, and also avoid chunky heels – rather go for stiletto heels or a cute wedge heel. Beware of skirts that end above the knee and avoid tank tops. Accessorising is the key to looking younger and it can be done in a variety of ways be it with a slouchy handbag, a wide belt or an array of chunky bracelets. Go for light colours like lavenders and baby blues; you can even try these colours on your finger and toe nails for a young look.
